"We are getting ready to start our seventh season with Tracey & Heather. It’s been a great experience for our family. My daughters (ages 11 and 13) enjoy the wide range of classes that are offered for all skill levels. They have been a part of the competition team for the past five years.

They compete in hip-hop, jazz, tap, and contemporary. To ensure their dance training is well rounded, the girls also take classes in technique, barre, ballet, tumbling, pointe, and pre-point.

My daughters really enjoy the guest instructors that Tracey & Heather brings in to teach all styles of dance. They benefit from Masters Classes with instructors who have different teaching styles.

The studio also offers adult classes that my husband participates in. He has been part of a parent hip-hop class for the past two years. We have made lifelong friends at Tracey & Heather and truly consider it to be our second family."

At first, I was a little skeptical of us merging studios. I later realized that it was the best thing that has ever happened to my dance career. The teachers from each studio brought their own expertise and passion for dance. The teachers at THDS are amazing role models that have taught me to be disciplined and dedicated to what you love. THDS is a great place to watch your child grow up and grow in their dancing ability. Every single person at the studio has made a huge impact in my life. In addition, I have made many new friends that I love so much. All the dancers are very humble and always encourage you to never give up. I think we all have the teachers to thank for that. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for our dance teachers.

Ballet/Technique

Ballet refers to a formalized style of dance with its origins in the Italian Renaissance court, further developed in France and Russia as a concert dance form. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. It has been influential as a form of dance globally and is taught in ballet schools around the world.

Hip-Hop

Hip-hop dance refers to dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music, or that have evolved as a part of the hip-hop culture. Hip-hop dance can be divided into old school and new school, but the separation between the two is somewhat ambiguous and thought to be evolving with the passing of time.

Currently hip-hop dance forms have emerged to be independent on the original culture, and many people — girls and boys — are dancing it today without having or having just a little connection to the original culture. (Wikipedia)

Because dance is fun, it accomplishes what many exercise programs do not — the establishment of a long-term habit of fitness. Dance builds strength, balance, cardiovascular fitness, agility, and flexibility, which are health benefits enjoyed by dancers of all age groups and ability levels.

Jazz

Jazz dance is originated from the African American vernacular dance of the late 1800s to the mid-1900's. Today, jazz dance is present in many different venues and different forms.

Jazz dance thrives in dance schools and remains an essential part of musical theater choreography; it is sometimes interwoven with other dance styles as appropriate for the particular show.

Jazz dancing can be seen in some music videos, and even a number of Las Vegas showgirls are jazz dancers. Jazz Dance can also be seen on the hit show, "So You Think You Can Dance", and is performed by dance companies around the world.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music.

Lyrical dance has a relatively recent history and a genesis based on the coming together of ballet with rock/folk/pop/alternative music and a variety of jazz dance styles and modern dance. It is mainly performed to music with lyrics, and the song's lyrics are a driving force and key inspiration for the movement. This choreography is often emotional, gripping, and exquisitely delicate, all at the same time.

Pre-Pointe and Pointe

'Dancing en pointe' is the action of rising to the tips of the toes while performing steps from ballet. Also known as pointe work, it is performed using hard–toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. 'Dancing en pointe' requires strength and skill and is a central part of a ballet dancer's training and repertoire.

Pom Pon

This style can incorporate all forms of dance to create visual effects primarily for entertaining at halftime shows. Poms are done with teams of 6 to 45 people and are one of the most public forms of dance where form, team uniformity, showmanship, precision, and choreography are key.

Tap

A style of American theatrical dance using precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping. Tap dance was developed in the United States during the nineteenth century and is popular nowadays in many parts of the world.

The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancer's shoes touch a hard floor. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer, not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician.

Tumbling

Tumbling is a gymnastics sport which combines the skills of artistic gymnastics on the floor and those of trampolining.

Gettin' Down

The movement program for individuals with Special Needs.
